Orient in the Heart of Europe
Mostar, a unique multi-faceted city where East and West meet on its gleaming, turquoise river is a blend of oriental architecture. The bridge is the city’s most recognizable landmark. Built in 1566. on the orders of Suleiman the Magnificent, the Old Bridge is the one of the most important structures of the era.
On our way we will stop in Ston, a small town with great importance clearly appreciated when you see the great stone walls protecting the saltpans. We will continue on to Počitelj, listed as a UNESCO heritage site. During the return trip there will be time to learn about the Illyrians, the ancient people of this region. You will experience how the cities of Mostar and Počitelj, although close in proximity, are totally different from Dubrovnik or Dalmatia.
